We’ve got you! We’ve listed some fun facts about Taylor Swift that you probably didn’t know about:

She has written an unpublished 350-page novel

At 12, Taylor wrote “A Girl Named Girl.” The novel is about a mother who wants to have a son instead of a daughter. Before that, when she was in fourth grade, she won a national poetry contest with her three-page poem entitled “Monster in My Closet”.

She wrote her first song “Lucky You” at 10 years old

The unreleased song was created after computer repairman and musician, Ronnie Cremer, who taught the young Taylor how to play three chords on a guitar. One of the first songs she learned to play was ‘Kiss Me’ by the Sixpence None the Richer.

She’s the voice behind Audrey of “The Lorax”

Aside from singing and songwriting, Taylor also has a heart in filmography. Did you know that she was the voice behind Audrey in the Dr. Seuss movie The Lorax? She also had cameos in different shows and movies such as Hannah Montana: The Movie. She debuted as Haley Jones on CSI and as Felicia Miller in the movie Valentine’s Day.

She’s a certified cat lover

Definitely a talented fur parent. Taylor has 3 cats, and she named them Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button from her favorite TV show characters of Grey’s Anatomy, Law and Order SVU, as well as the movie, Benjamin Button.

Her cats have also shared the spotlight with her. They were in some of her music videos and even starred in some commercials.

She considers melodica the coolest instrument

Taylor picked up this instrument during her Asian tour and said that it’s made by the army of waving mechanical cats, known as the Beckoning Cats.

Melodica is a lightweight and portable handheld instrument similar to the harmonica of a pump organ. It can be played by blowing the valve and pressing the keys.

She’s had her share of rejections from several record labels

Taylor reminisces about her journey to breaking into the music scene. At the age of 11, she and her mom traveled to Nashville to submit her song covers of Dolly Parton and Dixie Chicks, but all the record labels they approached rejected her.

She started her musical career at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee

On November 4, 2004, 14-year-old Taylor performed at The Bluebird Cafe for the first time. It was also at this same cafe when record executive Scott Borchetta, who was then preparing to form Big Machine Records, discovered Taylor Swift in 2005.

Taylor was one of the first artists to sign a contract with BMR. After a year, they released the singer’s debut single, “Tim McGraw”. The song reached the Top 5 position of US Billboard 200, where it spent 275 weeks.

She writes songs for other artists

Remember the tracks “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” from the movie Hannah Montana, and “Better Man” by Little Big Town? Taylor wrote those songs. She even wrote his ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris’s single “This Is What You Came For” under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg. Other songs she wrote were “Two Is Better Than One” by Boys Like Girls, “Renegade” by Big Red Machine, and “Babe” by Sugarland.

She has a framed picture of Kanye West in her house

Underneath the frame, Taylor wrote, “Life is full of interruptions;” her way of remembering the controversial 2009 MTV Video Music Awards where she won Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me.”

Kanye West rudely interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech with his unforgettable statement: “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

She’s been involved in several celebrity feuds

We all know that Taylor is a sweet and loving person, but she also has a snooty side just like other celebrities.

Some of the stars who had bad blood with the pop star were her ex-boyfriends Joe Jonas, John Mayer, and Calvin Harris. She also had famous feuds with other artists including Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Niki Minaj, Avril Lavigne, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West.

She has an odd way of categorizing her music

Taylor has a lot of weird things to offer, at least for some. In her acceptance speech as Songwriter of the Decade in the 2022 Nashville Songwriter Awards, she revealed her three-pen category system for organizing her genre:

Fountain Pen means the modern storyline or preference with a poetic twist. She explained that it’s like taking a common phrase and flipping its meaning, “the songs I categorize with this style sound like confessions scribbled and sealed envelope, but too brutally honest to ever send”.

Glitter Gel Pen’s lyrics, according to her, are frivolous, carefree, and bouncy. Glitter pen lyrics don’t care if you take them seriously because they don’t take themselves seriously. “Glitter Gel Pen lyrics are about the drunk girl at the party who tells you that you look like an angel in the bathroom. It’s what we need every once in a while in these fraught times in which we live.”

Quill Lyrics is “if I was inspired to write it after reading Charlotte Bronte or after watching a movie where everyone is wearing poet shirts and corsets. If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill in me.”

She’s a Guinness World Records-breaker

Taylor Swift broke 58 Guinness World Records and won 11 Grammy awards. She has records like the Fastest Selling Single in Digital History for “We Are Never Getting Back Together” and “Look What You Made Me Do”; and the Most Viewed Music Video Online for “Shake It Off”. Her album Midnights became the Most Streamed Album on Spotify in a Single Day. She also broke records as the Most Streamed Artist in a Single Day in Spotify history.

She’s an advocate for the rights of the marginalized

Despite being famous and one of the highest-paid artists, Taylor is also known for her charity efforts, such as donating to various charities or organizations with causes.

On top of her charitable contributions, she’s also a known advocate of women, children, LGBTQ++ rights, and artists’ rights.
