Matthew Perry wanted to be remembered for helping fellow addicts.
Matthew, who almost died from drugs, chatted on the ‘Q with Tom Power’ podcast, which his fans are spreading online. He talked about how he didn’t want to be remembered only as Chandler Bing from ‘Friends’.

He is best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the popular television series “Friends,” which aired from 1994 to 2004. Perry’s portrayal of Chandler made him a household name and earned him an Emmy nomination.

Aside from “Friends,” Matthew appeared in various films and television shows, including “The Whole Nine Yards,” “The West Wing,” “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” and “The Odd Couple.” He is recognized for his comedic talent and has enjoyed a successful career in both acting and producing.
Matthew continued to be involved in acting, writing, and producing after the conclusion of “Friends.” He appeared in various television shows and films, including guest roles in series such as “The Good Wife” and “The Kennedys: After Camelot.” He also starred in his comedy series, “The Odd Couple,” which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2017.
Before his death, he had been open about his struggles with substance abuse and had been an advocate for addiction recovery and treatment. Matthew used his own experiences to raise awareness and support for individuals dealing with addiction issues.
The “Fools Rush In” star was a spokesperson for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals. In November 2022, he published a memoir titled “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.”

Perry was found unresponsive in the jacuzzi at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles after police responded to a 911 call on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
